The 2012 CIPR Northern Conference will take place at Leeds Metropolitan University, on Wednesday 31st October.  The focus for this year will be centered around the changing face of the PR industry and how fit we are to tackle the increasing challenges that lay ahead.

 

Whether it is understanding and keeping ahead of the continual changes in the digital and social media sectors, making the leap to being a sole practitioner or starting your own consultancy, or making sure you are mentally fit to face the future of this increasingly diverse industry, then the 2012 Northern Conference is one you cannot afford to miss.

We are also pleased to announce that Max Clifford will be a keynote speaker at the event.

There will be a packed schedule this year with panels and a choice of interactive workshops as well as a several key note speakers, all of whom are at the top of their game.

Key note speakers include Emma Leech from the University of Nottingham and Dominic Burch from Asda. We have one more keynote speaker to confirm.

In the morning delegates can enjoy two of three different panel sessions; Video Broadcasting, Journalism and Social Media. The panels will cover a range of practical advice and insights from real experts in their field.

Panel A Journalism: With Len Tingle, BBC Yorkshire, David Parkin, Business Desk & Alison Epstein, Freelance Journalist.

Three of the North's senior journalists from the world of print and broadcasting will talk about how they have adapted to be "fit for the future", how they see mainstream and digital media integrating, and what effect they think Leveson might have on press regulation.

Panel B Social Media: With Rob Brown, Staniforth, Ross Wigham, Northumbria County Council and Alex Abbotts from the Bromford Group.

Three leading thinkers on how social media and digital communications is evolving and changing the role of PR practitioners. They will share their expertise on how we can be 'fit for the future' and claim the social media space as communications, engagement and relationship specialists.

Panel C Video Broadcasting: With Rob Pittam, Robin Hood Media, Jonathan Grice, Fruition Media & Ian Fenton. Session Chair: Stuart Bruce

One hour of video is uploaded to YouTube every second and over 800 million unique users visit YouTube each month! Our panel will outline how video is changing the skills required for PRs and explore how you can leverage the medium to support your communication objectives whether that's online or off.
