Earlier on In Plain Picture Season 5 Episode 3 “Reservations, Ive Got a Few”, Mary and Marshall choose a Native American detective that can help them track down some sort of witness whos hiding while on an Indian reservation.
On this weeks Occurrence title “The Merry Spouse of WITSEC”, Mary looks after any bigamist, whos hiding from his former employer and his two wives.
Mary Shannon is an U. S. Marshal in the very secretive witness protection branch who spends her time relocating federal witnesses — whether notorious criminals or even innocent bystanders who found themselves from the wrong place at the incorrect time – each involving whom are wanted useless. Based out of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Mary works side-by-side along with her partner, Marshall Mann, who is the polar reverse of herself but the best partner nonetheless.
While not putting her life on the line to protect federal witnesses, Mary must attempt to control her dysfunctional family, including overly dependent mother, Jinx, and younger sister, Brandi, both of whom live within the same roof as Betty. After dealing with the girl career and family, Mary has little time period for boyfriend Raphael Ramirez, a baseball player, but relies on him to keep her sane whenever she needs it most.
In Plain Sight can be a procedural that also contains elements of mystery, action and comedy. But while weve seen a lot of shows about FBI brokers, homicide detectives, forensic scientists and exclusive investigators, this show is concerning Mary Shannon (Linda McCormack,) an U. S. Marshall who works to shield citizens enrolled in the Federal Witness Protection Plan, (WITSEC.)
Once someone enters WITSEC, theyre forced to abandon their hometown, change their identity, and never speak to be able to friends, associates or family members again. And its Marys job to make sure they follow the rules because their lives are in danger on a regular basis. The program isnt just consisting of petty crooks who copped a plea and therefore are waiting to testify towards big-time criminals. WITSEC is also stuffed with innocent bystanders, spouses and children who just happened to recognise the wrong person or were with the wrong place at the incorrect time.
At a running time of 1 hour and fifteen mins, there was a ton of information crammed in to this episode. Unfortunately, there was too most of some things and not enough of others. Were introduced to Marys helping cast, which includes her spouse, Marshall, her “friend with benefits”, Raphael, her police contact, Bobby D, as well as her mother, her sister and her boss. Add to that all of the suspects, witnesses, informants and victims involved in the mystery of the 7 days and there were simply way too many characters to remember. They couldve pared down how many Marys supporting cast introduced in this episode so that were able to learn more than just essentially the most superficial aspects of their own personalities. The homicide case couldve used some trimming as well for the same purpose. With so many particulars and characters flying around, there wasnt much time and energy to feel sympathy towards those people Mary was protecting which killed much of the suspense within the episode.
