Hes got a safe environment using a little castle, but hes never felt the rush of the great life current until he makes contact with the power of Patricia Maxwell, a government spokesperson buying “feel-good” story about the center East.
Maxwell wants Fred to help an eccentric Yemeni sheik (Amr Waked) make a salmon fishing habitat since the sheik believes fishing is usually a faith-based philosophical enterprise. The only thing maintaining everyone casting is the belief that hungry fish are swimming underneath the surface.
Fred has little faith once we meet him. He truly believes the entire experiment is insane and tries to flee participation any way hell. He squirms and wriggles, but hes firmly hooked by Maxwells proposition.
Hes also somewhat dazzled through the alluring Harriet (Emily Dull), the Yemeni sheiks sexy assistant assigned to aid Fred achieve this fishy purpose.
Fred and Harriet clash as soon as they meet, but theres undeniable hormone balance between them, and from this level on, we could sit back and wait for the actors to merely hit their genre signifies.
Hallstrom does serve way up some expected scenes, including awkward moments regarding attraction and repulsion, but theres always something decidedly adult about the proceedings that makes Salmon Fishing in the Yemen feel far more sophisticated than your average rom-com.
Much of the credit goes to the actors themselves. Even in the almost all predictable moments, McGregor and Blunt admittance a vein of authenticity. Theres a gentle touch to their interactions that articulates every one of the feelings bubbling beneath the symptoms.
Popping up every often to completely steal the actual scene is Scott Thomas, the ball-busting flak with the razor sharp wit which will do anything in her power to appease the myopic mass media pool.
